Recruiting Update: OU had two unexpected West Coast visitors for the KSU Game in Victor Burnett and Tony Jefferson. Jefferson's been a UCLA verbal for a while so he was the more unexpected of the duo, but OU with 3 LBs verbals also brought in Victor Burnett. I'm not really sure OU has room for either player, but it might be as simple as David White (OU's Assistant Recruiting Coordinator) wanting to complete the full recruiting cycle, and establish some more connections in California. Then again, Jefferson is considered to be an elite defender, and we all know who the last highly rated Safety OU got from Cali was. Prater makes a return appearance. Could OU possibly get Darius White, Kyle Prater, and Kenny Stills at WR? It's possible.

  1. Darius White: 6-3, 200, 4.45. WR. Fort Worth, TX (Dunbar). Is UT taking Demarco Cobbs a sign that UT has given up on Darius White? I think White was planning to attend the KSU game with his cousin Rashad Favors. If he did attend, hopefully he had a nice talk with his future QB Blake Bell.
  2. Jackson Jeffcoat: 6-5, 230, 4.6. DE. Plano, TX (Plano West). No updates.
  3. Kenny Stills: 6-1, 175, 4.35 WR. Carlsbad, CA. Kenny is visiting in November (ATM game) and OU would appear to be his favorite despite some confusing recent comments about USC. He's a mid term graduate and would provide some serious WR speed to OU's class.
  4. Kyle Prater 6-5, 205, 4.5  WR Hillside, Il. Want to know why Prater's back on the list?  Visit SoonerScoop.
  5. Seantrel Henderson: 6-8, 300, 5.0 OT Minneapolis, MN. I really think that this visit could get cancelled. Hopefully not, but it will take an awesome visit to get OU back in real contention.
  6. Tony Jefferson  6-0, 205, 4.5 S/LB. Chula Vista, CA. Kind of a surprise that he visited OU. He's been a UCLA verbal since about August. OU coaches think Jefferson is an elite defender. I think Jefferson is a mid term kid.
  7. JR "Ego" Ferguson: 6-4, 275, 4.8 DE/DT. Hargrave Military Academy.  Ferguson's visit also should happen for ATM. Does OU have another DL ship with Jeffcoat still out there?

Other Prospects to Watch at this time

  • Austin Haywood TE 6-5, 250, 4.8 Southmoore, OK. Haywood had 5 TDs Friday night with several members of the OU staff in attendance. An offer has to be coming soon.
  • Joshua Shaw CB 6-2, 190, 4.4 Palmdale, CA. No update. Just waiting to see if the November 13th visit happens.
  • Christian Jones OLB 6-4, 220, 4.6 Winter Park, FL. Jones might be waiting until December/January to take his visits. Will OU have any interest then?
  • Ricky Heimuli 6-4, 285, 4.9 Salt Lake City, UT. He recently got named to participate in the Army All American game, he did mention OU but still also mentioning a bunch of other schools.
  • George Uko 6-4, 290, 4.9. Chino, CA Don Lugo HS. No update. Unclear if OU has any shot at all.
  • Victor Burnett 6-1, 225, 4.6 Culver City, CA.Burnett visited this weekend. Kind of a surprise considering our ship issues, and depth at LB already.
  • Dexter Ransom 6-4, 215, 4.6 WR Blinn JC. Ransom has hurt his knee recently in a game. Story is that he has a torn ACL. Not sure if that impacts OU's level of interest or not.
  • JUCO OL X: OU is going to clearly try and bring in at least one JUCO OL to provide some competition and depth. Mid term versus July graduate will be a key factor. No names have really surfaced yet.
  • JUCO TE X: I don't even have a name but if the TEs on campus are not developing, you have to consider this move. An offer to Haywood pretty much eliminates this option.

OT Rozell Gayden from Reedley College? We've even offered and I think he's a mid-term. As for JUCO TEs we already got one in Lane Johnson and if Haywood commits -- which is likely -- we won't need another.

Buildings are expensive and not everyone can buy it. However, loan was invented to aid people in such kind of situations.
