Taw Poll
Rationale
1. TCU
Still dominating teams and still winning. Offense is improving week over week. Win over Clemson looks better and better
2. Bama
Beat LSU showing that they can pass the ball if they need to.
3 UT
Smashed UCF in Austin. Big deal.
4. UF
Beat up on Vandy, the annual bottom feeder of the SEC. Big deal. Brandon Spikes still the biggest thug scumbag in college football. So nice that the Jesus QB doesn't feel it necessary to comment on his thuggery. Florida is basically the Duke of college football. Lauded by ESPN, completely unlikeable.
5. Cincinnati
Beat UCONN in basically a miracle fashion. Really let UCONN back into that game. First real signs of some problems with the rebuilt Cinci defense.
6. Boise
Struggled to beat La Tech. Defense got seriously exposed for the first time this year.
7. Ga Tech
Escaped in OT against a pretty weak Wake Forest team. But this really was the ambush, let down game for the jackets. Beat Duke and they are one half of the ACC title game in Tampa.
| 8. Houston |
Won a ridiculous shootout against Tulsa. Anyone going coach shopping could do a lot worse than Sumlin (and give him enough cash to pay a real DC) |
9. Utah
Continue to win. Showdown with TCU will be key. I doubt that they can get into BCS bowl race, only play spoiler.
10. Pittsburgh
Continue to win. Beat ND and then get ready for the showdown with Cinci on 12/5 for a BCS spot.
11. Arizona
Smashed a bad Wazzu team. Cats are a horrible call in Seattle away from having one loss, and clear path to the Rose Bowl.
12. Miami, FL
Took out some revenge on UVA for the final game Orange Bowl loss. If they run the table could easily find themselves in a BCS at large slot. Oklahoma losing again didn't help their resume at all.
13. Iowa
Lost their QB or they probably continue their undefeated streak. If Stanzi cannot return their hopes of Rose Bowling by beating Ohio State look long.
14. Oregon
Great win, and then a big time loss. Stanford just dominated the Oregon defense, and killed enough clock running for 230+ yards to deny Oregon the time needed for the full comeback.
15. USC
Struggled with an average ASU team (ASU offense sucks, ASU defense is very good). Completely over rated in the human polls. USC lost to a below average UDUB team, and got their asses handed to them by Oregon. Just because they used to be USC doesn't mean you give them 6 poll slots of respect. |
16. Ohio State
Terrell Pryor appears to have woken up now. Buckeyes getting the ball into their difference makers.
17. Oklahoma State
Beating ISU at home, is no reason to move up the poll.
18. LSU
Lost to Bama in Tuscaloosa. Why did I drop them so much? What has LSU really accomplished this year? Lost at home to UF, lost to Bama. They are the 3rd team in the SEC. Good defense, really suspect QB play (second year in a row)
19. USF
Have a chance to really jump up with a win over Miami end of the year. Need to keep winning and not have their usual 2nd half fold issues.
20. Wisconsin
Probably the 3rd best team in the Big Ten over Penn State.
21. Penn State
Speaking of teams accomplishing nothing. Penn State has had a two game season both of them in Happy Valley. And lost them both. They are just a bad average team.
22. Clemson
Nice win over FSU. Clemson close to locking down the other spot in the ACC title game. CJ Spiller is probably the best RB in the country.
23. Virginia Tech
Beat East Carolina in an ugly Thursday night game.
| 24. Stanford |
Andrew Luck made big plays throwing the ball. Their big TB rushed for over 200 yards. Jim Harbaugh is doing a very nice job at Stanford. Stanford gambled with hiring him, and it's paying off big time.
| 25. Navy |
They just beat ND at South Bend. Their option attack is working. I really don't think anyone else from a power conference really deserves to be ranked at all. |
