Coaches' Poll Voting, or "Are You Happy Now?"
Written by ponderos

Lucky for us, Coaches Poll voting is still public until 2010. Thanks to that, we can see what morons decided to vote Texas, a 12-10 loser* in the Big 12 championship, number one.

As you might guess, one result might surprise you.

Fifty-four coaches got it right and voted Alabama number one (Brian Kelly voted his Bearcats #1, he gets a pass). Four coaches either didn't watch a lot of other teams besides their own, or just didn't give a shit. I'll let you decide which ones are which.

To wit, TaW presents the Texas voters:

  • Rob Akey, Idaho
  • Tim Brewster, Minnesota
  • Mark Dantonio, Michigan State
  • Bo Pelini, Nebraska

Wait, what?? Pelini? Well, it certainly goes against Bo's feelings immediately after the game.

"If I may have a moment of your time, good sir ... "

What's really funny (funny "hmm," not funny "haha") is that I thought there was a Stoops coaching cabal (or "sewing circle" ... look it up, they don't need traffic from me) that said anybody in the Stoops coaching tree would do whatever they could to benefit Stoops. This is one of the bullshit canards UT fans pissed their pants about in 2008 when they insisted they were getting screwed by a technicality in the system (only now they want to enforce the technicalities of the rules because it benefits them, which would be fine with me ... let's go put back time on the clock from every OTHER pass that went out of bounds during the game).

Fuck it.

According to the NCAA Rules, the time clock can be reviewed to correct an egregious error. Which apparently is interpreted to only mean one that results in ut losing if not corrected, since this has never in the history of college football happened at the end of a game before (see, e.g., the end of the LSU game this year and the spiked ball).

By the way, I keep pushing the smaller/bigger buttons below the comment box and they have no appreciable effect on the size of the Bama Co-eds above. Please advise how I'm doing it wrong.

Time was put back on the clock in the 94 Orange Bowl to allow Nebraska an opportunity to beat FSU. However, they missed the kick.

Make fun of the clock management, make fun of colt. I've been doing so, but to deny that the right call was made just shows your ass.

I agree, GD. Rule technicalities should be adhered to strictly. Thank you for seeing my side of it.
It wasn;t the clock...

...that beat the Nibblets. The kick-off and the horse collar put the Horns within striking distance.

A history lesson for the mentally challenged. That includes you ftf. Never before in history? Strong statement.

7-5. No asterisk needed. If your line didn't stink worse than ours Bradford would still be playing. Kevin Wilson really nailed it on those guys.
